A bifold door can be quickly and easily folded into two or more parts and slid open in order to maximise space in the home. Internal bifold doors can be used to split a large area without losing any space and external bifold doors can be used to seamlessly link outdoor and indoor areas. With large panels of glass, external bifold doors can also be used to flood the home with natural light, making them an attractive yet practical alternative to more conventional external door options.
Bifold doors work on a concertina principle with two or more hinged panels that fold up and stack against the wall when the door is slid open. Each panel is connected to a tracking system on both the floor and the top of the doorway with wheels that allow each panel to smoothly fold in on themselves and be moved along the track to the wall. A “traffic door” can also be included, introducing a conventional swinging door to improve the functionality of the system.
Bifold doors can range in price depending on how many panels are required, the material of the framework, and a range of other customisable features including the addition of a “traffic door”. For the best idea of how much our bespoke bifold doors cost it’s best to speak to one of our team.
If you have a particular configuration in mind or have to consider external or internal factors that would change the way you open your doors, there are 14 options. You can have a maximum of 7 sashes that fold and slide to give your desired effect.
